Mihir Kakara

Mihir Kakara is a Neurologist, and an Instructor in the Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Division of the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently completing a Masters in Health Policy Research at Penn. His broad research interest involves understanding the life trajectories of individuals with disabilities, through a lens of the social model of disability – specifically in understanding how their economic and health outcomes are shaped by public and health policy. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Health Equity Advancement (CHEA) at Penn, and is involved in research efforts in making healthcare more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Prior to joining OfH, he led clinical and immunology-related research projects at the Penn Center for Neuroinflammation and Experimental Therapeutics related to SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine efficacy in people living with MS who are immune-modulating therapies. Before coming to Penn, he completed his Neurology Residency at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in 2020, where he served as Chief Resident.
