Labor Markets and the Economy
Labor markets and economic conditions shape the opportunities, our financial security, and our health.
About
Labor markets and economic conditions determine whether people have access to stable jobs, robust wages, financial security, and pathways for upward mobility. At Opportunity for Health, we study how changes in the economy – like rising automation, foreign trade, and shifts in the power of workers — affect American’s sense of opportunity and hope and, ultimately, their health. Our research shows that when people have access to meaningful economic opportunities and financial stability, they are healthier and better positioned to thrive. We generate evidence to inform labor and economic policies that promote opportunity, reduce insecurity, and support long-term health and upward mobility.
